          The Goods and Service Tax-

The Goods & Service Tax (GST) will soon make its way to the textbooks. The ICSE Board will add the GST in the Class 10th mathematics syllabus. GST topic will replace the VAT (Value Added Tax) topic. According to the CISCE (Council For Indian School Certificate Examinations), VAT carries four to six marks and it will be replaced with GST from the year 2020. This decision was taken last year.

GST Topic Added To Mathematics Class 10 ICSE Syllabus-

VAT serves no purpose and that is why the topic is discontinued. All the students who will be promoted to class 10th in the year 2019 will study GST as a topic in the mathematics subject and the new chapter will be tested in 2020. All those students who will appear for the ICSE class 10 exam in 2019 will not have to study GDST or VAT.

This change will benefit all the students who will pursue commerce. The change will help students to learn and understand the basics of GST (Goods and Service Tax) and also this will make the students learn the current indirect tax structure of India.

NCERT Also Added GST and Demonetisation Topics-

NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) has already decided to add new topics related to GST and Demonetisation in the existing syllabus. These topics will be added in subjects like business studies, accountancy, political science, and economics. This was informed by the minister of state for human resource and development in Rajya Sabha last year. The changes might be made for the academic year 2018-19.

GST (Goods and Service Tax) is a new introduction to India’s Tax structure. This is an important topic that is being entered the syllabus of the MBA programmes, CA and other higher professional study courses. If students will have a strong base on the topic then it will automatically help them to learn the topic at higher education level.

Assam board has already introduced the GST topic from class 12th. UP Board has also decided to add GST in the class 10th syllabus. The West Bengal Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Council will also soon add GST to the subjects but it is not confirmed yet.
