The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) is an educational foundation and a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi, India which promotes science, mathematics, general knowledge, introductory computer education and English language skills among school children in India through various Olympiads.

About 4 lakh student take part in each of the following Olympiads-
International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO)
The IGKO is a single level exam .Students from class I-X may participate in the examination.
International English Olympiad (IEO)
• The IEO is conducted on two levels each year.Students from class I-XII may participate in the examination.
National Science Olympiad (NSO)
• The NSO is conducted on two levels each year. It was the first Olympiad to be conducted by SOF.It has been conducted since 1997 .Students from class I-XII may participate in the examination.
International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO)
• The IMO is conducted on two levels each year.Students from class I-XII may participate in the examination.
International Company Secretaries Olympiad Olympiad (ICSO)
• The ICSO is a single level exam .Students from classes XI & XII may participate in the examination.
National Cyber Olympiad (NCO)
• The NCO is a single level exam. it was the second olympiad to be conducted by SOF. It has been conducted since 2000 .Students from class I-XII may participate in the examination.
National Cyber Olympiad Level-2 (NCO)
• The NCO was formerly a two level exam however since, the 2017-2018 session the NCO level-2 has been removed due to less popularity and replaced by IEO level-2 due to increasing popularity.
International Sports Knowledge Olympiad (ISKO)
• Conducted only once, during the 2016-2017 session.It was a single level exam conducted in partnership with Star Sports in which students of classes I-X could participate.

In NSO,IMO and IEO(2nd level) the awarding system is as follows-
International rank 1- ₹50,000
International rank 2- ₹25,000
International rank 3- ₹10,000
State rank 1- ₹5,000
State rank 2- ₹2,500
State rank 3- ₹1,000

Most of the parents and students take Olympiad exams as a burden or an addition to the routine studies. The thought behind is that it hampers the studies and lower down the grades.

1.The aim of a good Olympiad exam is to provide a unique competitive platform through and identify the young geniuses and create a talent pool for the future.

2.Olympiads are not just only the exams they do a lot more to bring out the best in a child. Trying for and giving Olympiads motivates students to strive for better.

3.A rank in the Olympiad develop a sense of confidence in the students and their parents. These also help parents identifying the talent of their child.

4.Olympiads problem being tricky and more conceptual help students understand the topic well. This ultimately improves routine class results.

5.These exams help cultivate a kind of analytical thinking in the children which is useful in any examination, be it IIT-JEE or any other competitive exam.

6.Olympiads help School students to test their understanding, level of knowledge and power of reasoning.

7.Olympiads not only improves the logical thinking and brains faster working but also give a career path to young ones.

8.Olympiads as conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation provided a big platform where even primary students can show their talent at International, national or state level.

9.India does not perform very good in the international Olympiads reason behind student do not have that much exposure. They are talented but are not aware of the skills required to take the Olympiad exams. Hence, taking Olympiads exams since younger stage inculcate the habit of taking challenge.

10.Olympiad exams not only tests the basic subjects taught in the school, these also enhance the analytical reasoning ability in a child. It increases the thinking capacity, problem solving skills, confidence and hence helps in an all over development of a child at a young stage.
