Area of a Square Formula PDF Download
Area of a Square Formula – A square is a kind of polygon which has four sides. In a regular polygon, there is four right angle and two parallel sides. In another word, we can say that the Area of square is known as the product of each side of itself.
i.e. Area “A” is a × a where “a” is the length of each side of a square
For example, the area of a square of each side of length 2 meters,
Then the area of the square is A = 2 × 2 = 4 square meter.
Area of Square Formula:-
If the area of the square is denoted with “A” and the sides of the square are denoted by “a” then,
Area of a square is given by:
Then,
Area (A) = a2
The perimeter of a Square:-
If you cut the square from one side and straighten it like a thread, it is called its Perimeter. In another word, we can also say that the Perimeter of any closed geometrical object is the total distance around the object.
Perimeter (P) of a square is given by:
after cut from the end A
Then,
Perimeter (P) = 4a

Some Solved Examples:-
Example 1: Calculate the area of a square of length 20 cm?
Solution: According to the Area of square formula
Area of the square (A) = a2
Area of a square = 202 = 400 cm2
Example 2: Find the area of a Garden, where the Garden has 25cm side’s length?
Solution: Garden are in square shape i.e.
Area of square is known as a × a.
So,
A = 25 × 25
Then,
Area of a Garden = 625 cm2
Example 3: Calculate the area of a square Plot, if its perimeter is 16 miles?
Solution:
The perimeter of the square Plot = 16 miles and we know that the perimeter of a square is P = 4a,
where ‘a’ is the length of the side. So with the help of the above formula
P = 4a
Then,
sides of a Plot (a) = P/4
a = 16/4
So,
sides of a Plot (a) = 4 miles
we also know that the Area of the square(A) = a × a
Put the value of a, we have:
Area of a square Plot = 4 × 4 = 16 miles2
