How to preprare for IIT-JEE

IIT-JEE is considered one of the most prestigious and toughest exams to crack in India. It is the entrance exam for getting into the Indian Institutes Of Technology (Delhi,Bombay,Kanpur etc).Thus the students as well as their parents are always eager to know the best method of preparing for the exam. The preparation for IIT-JEE invloves a mixture of hard work and smart work. There is not shortcut to hard word,you need to be thorough with the concepts to be able to crack the exam. But smart work can increase your efficiency in the preparation process . I will be providing a systematic approach to cracking IIT-JEE below.

Step 1- Understanding the question paper pattern


The first and foremost thing to do is to go through the paper. The IIT-JEE exam has been renamed as JEE (Joint Entrance Exam ) since 2013. It consists of two papers-
1.) JEE Main and 2.) JEE Advanced

For being eligible for JEE-Advaced you need to clear the cut-off in JEE Main. Thus understanding the pattern of both the papers is important as they are different in certain aspects.
a.) JEE Main –  JEE Main consists of three sections ie Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics.Each section comprises of 30 questions each.For each correct answer you get 4 marks and for every wrong answer 1 marks is deducted. There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
JEE Main level of questions are easier as compared to JEE Advance.The main focus here is basics of the respective subject.NCERT books are an excellent resource in preparing for JEE Main. JEE Main rank is used to get admission into NITs and other premier institutes.

b.)JEE Advance  JEE Advance consists of 2 papers of 3 hours each.Each paper has 3 sections (Physics,Chemistry and Maths). In the first paper there for each section there are 10 multiple choice questions with single correct answer, 5 multiple choice questions with multiple correct answer and 5 questions with a single digit answer.
In the second paper for each section there are 8 multiple choice questions with single correct answer, 8 questions related to reading passage and many mathching list type questions.

Step 2- Resources for preparation


The resources consists of both classroom courses as well as test series.The resources have been categorised as follows
a.) Join a good coaching institute (eg. (VEA) -The best IIT JEE coaching in Indore )
b.) Solve a good amount of questions for each topic (Solve the study material provided by VEA )
c.) Clear your doubts with the teachers.(Regular doubt clearing session by VEA teachers)
d.) Attempt previous year question papers. (Previous Year Papers available at VEA website)
e.)Attempt moch test series of the coaching center. (Test Series by VEA)

Step 3- Time Management


Adequate time has to be given for preparing each topic.Classroom knowledge plays an important part in building the concepts. Well prepared notes should be maintained for each chapter .Also wastage of time in the form of social media usage,travelling etc should be controlled.

Step 4- Exam Day


Have adequate rest and be well prepared for the exam day. Prepare well in advance so that you dont stress yourself during the exam day.
