JEE Advanced 2017: Tentative seats in different IITs for 2017!

JEE Advanced 2017 is all set to be conducted on May 21, 2017 as per the notification released on the official website. The examination is the key to finding a seat in the top engineering institutes of the country – the 21 IITs, Banaras Hindu University as well as ISM Dhanbad. Though a notification released by Joint Academic Board in the month of October hinted an increase in the number of seats in the IITs across the country, the actual final list of the seats in various IITs is still pending. As we wait for the final notification of the actual seat allocation, here is the list of tentative seats in different IITs prepared by considering last year’s actual seat allocation as well as proposed increase in seats.

It is estimated that about 12 lakh students from all over the country would write the JEE Mains 2017. Though the list would be pruned for finding the list of student eligible to write the JEE Advanced 2017 Exam, it is expected to be written by more than 2 lakh aspirants from all categories. A total of just about 11,000 seats are to be filled in the various IITs. The top 5 IITs, namely Kharagpur, Kanpur, Bombay, Delhi and Madras as well as IIT Varanasi or BHU attract the maximum number of applications. They also continue to have the maximum seats. Though there is going to be an increase in the seats, it is presumed that the maximum number of seat increase would happen in the relatively newer IITs.

From next year, for JEE Advanced 2017 the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) will increase 5% in their total student intake. The renowned engineering institutes of the Country have also decided to increase the intake of foreign students by up to 10% of the revised figure over and above the total student strength. According to the report, the increased number will be absorbed by all the 23 IITs. Keeping the figures in mind, the tentative seats for IITs in 2017 is presented below.
