The National Institute of Technology, Surat (NIT Surat), is also known as Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology or SVNIT. It was established in the year 1961, Surat Gujart.  SVNIT Surat is one of 30 National Institutes of Technology in India and established by the Government of Gujrat and Government of India with full funding support from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

It Is also known as one of the best engineering and higher studies institute in Surat, Gujrat. In 2002, the college was granted Deemed University with the approval of the University Grants Commission. The institute is also famous for organizing annual cultural and technical festivals: MindBend (technical festival) and Sparsh[5] (cultural festival) that attract participants from all over the country and abroad.
